My day yesterday was fabulous. As I mentioned in my items of thanks yesterday we started out at the incredible breakfast buffet here at the hotel. Afterwards I came up to the room and got ready for the day. I went down to the meetings Josh was in and joined them for a marketing meeting since I am now doing contract work for the lab - helping with marketing. It was very interesting. Following that we had a lunch with REAL Chicago pizza. It was delicious. Next I came up to the room. I was trying to get some work done and just couldn't focus and get in the mood to do that. I thought, I am in Chicago - I am not going to sit here in my room all day. So, I grabbed the camera that Susanna let me borrow and I was off.
5 miles later I had walked about six blocks, almost 1 mile, up to Michigan Ave - otherwise known as the Magnificent Mile. I walked about 2 miles north occasionally going into to stores and shops. I stopped into the Disney Store and made a purchase for MacKenzie's birthday this week, then I was off to more walking.
I got clear up to the Water Tower Plaza. This is an 8 story mall. Macy's is on every single level. It was huge. I just went through the different levels looking at all of the amazing things. The only other purchase I made was at Forever 21. Here I got a smashing necklace and some new shades because mine broke.
I happened to glance down at the time and realized that I only had 40 minutes to get through the maze of people, which increased by the second as the time got closer and closer to 5pm on a Friday afternoon/evening.
Here are a few pictures. I will have to post about WICKED later and I will add a slide show of the rest of the pictures later. Right now I just needed to get this done because I am meeting the other wives downstairs in a couple of minutes to go do a trolley ride/tour of the City - EXCITING!!!
Above:
A museum, in the middle of the city. Covers up a small water plant.
On the right:
A huge Christmas section already put up in Neiman-Marcus. The little ornaments in the baskets where $40. Can you imagine what the big ornaments on the tree cost?!?
"Tin Man" #1, had a sign that said will move for Tips. I got this picture during one of the times he was moving.
There is such beautiful architecture here in Chicago. You can tell which buildings date back to the 18 & 1900's.
Left:
There are many, many, many high end stores, such as COACH, here in Chicago. Considering that everywhere you turn there are extremely high end cars, it doesn't surprise me that there are stores like this here.
On the right: This one is a small section of people taken about 2pm here. I wish I would have taken one about 4:45 before I got back to our hotel so you could really see the increase in the amount of people. No - you couldn't tell I was a tourist!!
"Tin Man" #2. This guy was a character. He actually had a microphone and speakers and was singing. I pulled out the camera to take a picture and just before I could snap hit he throw up a sign in front of his face stating photos would only be allowed with donations. So, I walked across the street and took one from behind - as good as I could get it.
So, I will get my other stuff posted later today. Watch for that exciting entry later tonight!
