I have already started pondering over the things that I am thankful for this morning. There are so many that I am having a hard time deciding which things I want to list. Right now, in the beginning I know it will be hard to choose, as time goes on it will be to come up with them, no matter how small.
1. My Savior, Jesus Christ. I should have listed this one yesterday because of the importance to me.... Now I know not everyone believes the same way I do. That is OK. In my life this is the center; it is my rock upon which I rely every day. I don't believe I would exist if I didn't have the purpose driven behind it. I have gained a testimony of my own that no one else can take away. I know I have a Savior. I know that He loves me so much that He died for me personally. I know that through His sacrifice, His atonement, and His resurrection, that I will live again; and not only live again, but that I can be with my family forever. That one thought gives me so much comfort in life. I know that no matter what this life brings - which are many struggles, trials, temptations (and I don't just mean for myself, but in the world in general) that they can be overcome. These thoughts remind me of a song that I love - bear with me as I write it down here.
The Man with Many Names
by: Greg Hansen and Michael McLean
from the Album The Garden
(This is the representation of the Gardner in the Album)
There is One who to this garden comes
Like a most unusual rain -
Drink it in and never thirst again;
Living Water is His name.
There is One who comes to find each one
Who has lost his way again.
He will lead the way back to the fold;
The Good Shepherd is His name.
There is One who, when your crying's done,
Give the gifts you've never known.
He'll give fruit because He is the Vine And Life,
for He's The Living Stone.
He is known by, oh, so many names,
And will be forevermore.
Hope comes from the One with many names,
And He's not forgotten yours.
No, He's not forgotten yours.
2. My bed. I don't know why, but my bed is just one of the very most comfortable to sleep on. There is nothing exciting, expensive or even special about it. I just love it and know (unless interrupted by someone else) that I will get a good night's sleep when my head hits my pillow.
3. My computer. This one is listed for many reasons. First, I work from home for a few hours a week and having a computer enables me to do this. Second, it opens up a whole new world of communication. With working from home and having four kids I don't get to get out as often as I would like, having the computer allows me a way to communicate "with the outside world". Also with having four kids, it is a way to shop from the convenience of my home - have you ever tried shopping with four kids? It is not necessarily a pleasant experience.
4. My make-up. Yep, that is right. For some reason I am just not as confident about myself without it. I love deciding which look I am going to have and then blending, mixing and applying to get it just right. I am very girly!! Sorry, but it is true!
5. Dreams. Now, I don't mean the kind you have while sleeping. I am talking about the dreams that are attached to goals and gives us drive and purpose to our actions. Dreams make me grow and stretch as a person as I strive to achieve the things I want out of life.
6. Clothes. I try to be fashionable and trendy. I love being up to date with my style. There are a few people in my life that I think, I just love the clothes and accessories that they wear. They don't think so, but they are so beautiful...
7. Washer and Dryer. Maybe I should list these two things separately. Just over a month ago my dryer broke. It took me almost two weeks to get it fixed. I was trying to decide if I would get it fixed or get a new one. After two weeks of having to hang all of my laundry around the house to dry I went nuts and finally called to get someone over here. I know people don't have this luxury or have to go to the laundry mat. I am grateful that I have my own in my own house. It is definitely a measure of comfort and convenience for me.
8. Sunglasses. You might think this is corny, but I always have them. When I don't and I have to face the sun without them I panic.
9. Books. I love to read. I don't always have time to read so I pick the books that will benefit me the most - or that I get the most recommendation about. I have found that over the years I have grown tremendously and shaped my thinking into something positive because of what I have chosen to read.
10. My last one for today, preschool. Yes, today is a preschool day! Hip Hip Hooray! MacKenzie and Bailey ask me every day, "is today a preschool day?" They love preschool. They love Ms. Heather. I love the short break twice a week. Preschool is so good for my kids. I marvel at how much they are learning academically and socially. Ms. Heather is an amazing person. I am grateful to have her as their teacher.
