Oh, HAPPY day!

There are three great reasons to show that today is a HAPPY day!!!!

3. It is FRIDAY!!! That means Josh works half day. And tomorrow is the weekend! That is fantastic in and of itself! Yeah for family time. Yeah for "Sleeping in" (as best I Can do with a baby any way). Yeah for more relaxed days.

2. My mom called yesterday and gave me an idea to help find a resolution to my "4pm-6pm, losing my mind" time of the day. I put it into motion and IT WORKED!!!!! It was much smoother yesterday! So, what is the brilliant idea you ask?

I took about half an hour and prepackaged many bags of "snacks". This includes everything from Cheese-Its, pretzels, Cheetos, Chips, peanut butter crackers, peanuts, etc.

Like so...
Then, I placed the these bags into brown paper lunch bags and stapled each of them closed.

Like this...
Finally, I placed these bags into a basket. When the kids got home from school I told them that hey had to get out their homework, check their binders and grab a bag for a snack. I told the kids if it was a day that I was doing well on timing and had a bowl of fresh fruit or veggies that it would be ready on the table. If I didn't have time for that then they needed to go to the pantry to grab a bag and get started on the homework. I explained to them that they are choosing the snack and what they get is what they get. I didn't want any complaining, and if they didn't want what they chose, then they just would lose their snack and not get one for that day.

The kids LOVED the idea of the surprise snacks and I was able to sit and feed the baby in peace without any, "Where is my snack?", " "She got more than me.", or "I don't want this." A HUGE step in the right direction!!!! THANK YOU MOM FOR THE WONDERFUL IDEA!!!!!

1. And the #1 reason this is a HAPPY DAY!!!! - Last night as I was finally climbing into bed at midnight I was just saying that I wished the baby would sleep for at least four straight hours so I could get some sleep with a REM cycle. (5 hours of sleep doesn't cut it for me when it is in 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, and 2 hour increments. It just isn't the same.). This week has been worse because the Princess has been plagued with gas and pooping problems through the nights - resulting in many sleepless nights this week. So, how does this become a happy day you ask?

Josh snuck the baby out of the room right after I fell asleep and kept her in the family room ALL NIGHT!!! I got 6 whole, straight hours of sleep last night!!!! Wahoo! I feel so much more refreshed today than I have in days! He loves me so much!!! It was such a HUGE act of service and was a completely selfless thing for him to do. I have the VERY BEST Husband in the entire world. Thank you so much my love! I appreciate your thoughtfulness in allowing me to get some much needed sleep last night!!!!

Happy weekend every one! Enjoy your day today!!!!

Don't you just love experienced moms who can save your sanity with a simple solution, one you could have thought of yourself but didn't thanks to constant crazyness. You have an awesome mom! Sleep is such a gift when you have a baby. I'm sure he knows that "you" return when you get the sleep you need. Good for Josh!
