Tuesday in California

Another day in Sunny California - or is it sunny. We woke up this morning to a very dark, rainy day. Yes, it was absolutely pouring. The kids still don't know where were are heading. However, with the rain, we decided that Disneyland probably wasn't the best option. We had a lazy morning, but knew we couldn't keep four small kids couped up in the suite for the entire day. I grabbed the laptop and started searching for something to do.

I found a park type event that is centered around the "Lost City of Atlantis." It is supposed to be a combination of a park and museum. We drove across town to find it closed due to rain. Next to this attraction was a gigantic park. We decided to eat our picnic there. There were also two different playgrounds for the kids to play. What you won't be able to tell from these pictures is how amazingly cold and windy it was. We ate lunch, making several trips to the bathroom during the meal. I guess there is just something about being in cold weather that makes a person need to go more frequently.

Once the meal was over, we headed to the smaller of the two playgrounds. We had taken the kids scooters with us so they rode around while Brendon played. Then they quickly joined in on the fun. After they got bored with that one, we moved over to the bigger one where there were more children playing. They loved making new friends. A little while after the other families left they kind of got bored. What did I do? I started a game of tag.

The entire family was playing. We ran and ran and ran. They didn't like regular tag, so we made it into "Freeze tag." I hadn't played that game since I was a child. It was so much fun as we just spent time together as a family. It was also a good thing that I hadn't done any running this morning.

Spending this much time outside made me realize that I had packed for Arizona weather, not colder CA weather. I had Josh look up the information for the nearest thrift store. There was a Goodwill only 2 2/1 miles down the street. We packed up and headed over there. I bought each of the kids 2 pairs of jeans and a jacket. The amazing part was that it only cost me.........(drum rolling)........$45. YEAH!!!! The last thing we needed was another expensive day.

We ended the day with pasta shells and salad for dinner back at our suite, kids showers, and gearing the kids up (again) for a most fabulous day tomorrow. Just remember that they still have no idea where they are going. They just know that it is a HUGE surprise!!!!!!!!

Trish!! Your family is so adorable! It looks like you had such a great time! I can't wait until my family is old enough to go to Disneyland.
