We scheduled the timeshare and started making the preparations. WE NEVER TOLD THE KIDS WHAT WAS HAPPENING!!!!!!!
I packed us all up off and on throughout the day on Saturday - when the kids weren't paying attention. On Sunday morning I packed up a lunch and asked the kids if they wanted to go on a picnic. After Josh finished up his Elder's Quorum presidency meeting we loaded up the last of the things and left.
Now mind you, the kids still had no idea anything was going on. We just started driving. When the kids started telling us that they were hungry, we stopped in Yuma. We told them we hadn't quite gotten to where we wanted to have our picnic so we just had McDonald's (I know - bad on a Sunday). Then we just started driving again. We surprised the kids with new movies to watch in the car so they were excited and preoccupied with that rather than the time involved.
About 5 minutes before arriving to our Resort they finally noticed that we were at the ocean and the beach. We got settled into our suite and had our dinner here. We have a cute little 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. Complete with a kitchen and dining area.
This morning we packed up a lunch and headed to the beach. We are in Capistrano Beach - about half way between San Diego and Los Angeles. There are a lot of camping sites around here. With it being a bit colder so there isn't too much traffic and we had a fairly secluded area.
Brendon and Bailey really didn't like the water so they played on the blanket and surrounding sand, while MacKenzie and Alexis loved the water and played in it constantly!!!! Josh and I took turns with the camera.
We were enjoying ourselves so much and then - BAM! A mistake. Josh went out into the ocean and only waist high waves had been coming in. Suddenly a humongous wave hit and knocked Josh's glasses right off (see the top picture - I actually captured it). This abruptly ended the fun. Josh and I spent a fruitless hour looking for his glasses - we didn't really think we would find them, but we still wanted to try.
We went back up to our blanket, had lunch and discussed our options. We got in touch with the optometrist back home and they said they could fax his prescription info to another optometrist here. After searching on his Blackberry for a little bit we found a Lens Crafters. We headed into Laguna Hills Mall and started the long process. After a bit of faxing back and forth Lens Crafters finally had the prescription. Josh picked out some frames and after 2 hours of working on it, he had some replacement glasses. YEAH!!!!! We didn't want Josh to miss out on the next 3 days - our Disneyland 3 day passes - so I am glad he got his replacement glasses.

Looks like fun! Sorry, about your hubby's glasses! Hehehe!
What a fun trip. That's great that your kids didn't have a clue. The glasses thing is a bummer, but I can understand the frustation. Casey is blind, blind, blind and would die without his glasses.
