In September 2008 we started reading The Book of Mormon with our little family.
This morning we finished reading it completely through.
A couple of times it was just Dad and the kids and a few other it was just Mom and the kids. The very large majority we did it all together as a complete family. Some days we only read 5 or 6 verses, while other days it was 25 to 30 verses. It always depended upon the attention span of the kids that morning (or occasionally that evening), how long the verses were and so forth. There have been great things happening as we have been reading. First, the excelling of reading that has come from my children. Bailey who is not even in Kindergarten yet is now reading verses with little help (the same thing happened to MacKenzie before she started school). Second, the knowledge and understanding of the Gospel and about our Savior, Jesus Christ, has been developing. Third, the kids have all had a desire to do better in their own lives. I know that I have also felt the Spirit of our Heavenly Father more in our home.
I am so grateful that I took the time when I was younger to read and study this book, to pray about it, and to have the witness for myself that it is true. Now, we have the opportunity to work with our children, to teach them and help them gain their own testimonies. I love seeing their testimonies and knowledge grow. I am amazed by the things they retain. I love that we are able to do this every day as a family - to bring us closer together and to help us take one step closer to being an eternal family!!

that is AWESOME!!! we are making our way through...slowly but surely. good job!
That is an amazing accomplishment!! seriously pat yourself on the back for being a great example to your kids.
Also, I made my family blog private just for family members. (due to the request to respecting my family's privacy)
So I will be creating another blog soon, just about me, my goals/stories/opinions/crafts/projects ect. I will be inviting you to that one!
great job! Such an accomplishment!
That is a wonderful accomplishment. I really feel that amazing things can happen when you read scriptures with your family. I'm also impressed that Lexi has been reading the book of Mormon in preparation to be baptized. I'm hoping to encourage Gregory to do that this summer.
