A Walk in Emerald City - such a great weekend!

This past weekend my family headed up to the Phoenix valley as soon as Lexi got home from school on Friday. We went straight to my parents' house in Gilbert and had dinner. Josh and I then went to the temple while my parents watched our kids. We were trying to make the 7pm session and just missed it. We sat down waiting for the next session and in walks my sister in laws parents, Kathy & Kyle. I just love them. It was great to sit with them and enjoy their company. Once we finished we went back to my parents house to find out that my Grandma is in the hospital and not doing well at all. That is a story in and of itself so that will have to wait for another time.

We loaded up the kids and drove to my sister's house in Queen Creek. We stayed the night there and just enjoyed the company. All of next week I have my sister's kids while Ben & Michelle go find their house in China, where they are moving in about 75 days. As a thank you, she planned a sister's day for us. We went to lunch at Cosa Vida. Yummy! We both had salads. Hers with sweet pork and mine with pulled chicken. Did I mention it was YUMMY?!?!?!? I loved just sitting with her and visiting. Next to Josh, she is my very best friend. It is hard for me to think and realize that in just a short little time I won't have her to call whenever I want - it is not like she will just be in a different state - she will be on the other side of the world!!!! That will be a very, very difficult time. So much so that tears are already coming and I just don't want to think about it. So....

I will think about Saturday when she took me to see WICKED!!!!! Loved it more the second time. We sat on the THIRD ROW!!!!! It was incredible to see the orchestra and the actors so close up. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!!!! I knew my dear friend Niki and her husband Matthew were going to the same showing. I didn't get my act together to plan a lunch with them so I wasn't sure if I would get to see them. I thought that with the thousands of people there that it would be impossible. When I saw her walking up the ramp to where we were I just started jumping up and down. It was great to see them. It was just the icing on the cake for me.

My sister is so incredible to have taken me. She didn't need to do anything to "thank me" for watching the kids. I would gladly do it whenever she needs me to. That is what you do for someone you love! However, I loved that she did it so we could enjoy this time together! It was fun to "have one fine day in the Emerald City" with her.

From there we met our husbands and kids, our parents and one of our brothers and his wife at Chuck E Cheese to celebrate my nephew and brother's birthdays. Three hours at Chuck E Cheese. It was crazy busy when we got there, but the crowd died down as it got later into the evening. From there we headed back to QC to load up the car and get home around midnight.

It was so totally WICKED this weekend! If you haven't seen the production of WICKED I highly recommend it! You won't regret it!

What a wonderful weekend!
I so enjoy reading your blog posts. As I read this post today my thoughts were just how great you are. I love your sense of fun and the companionship you share (and take seriously) with so many. You are an amazing friend, sister, mother...

Where is the production held at? Since I don't follow shows and theaters, I assumed that it was held at Broadway in NY?

I would have a hard time if my sister was on the other side of the world too! Why so far?

Whoo, such a trooper to have a lot of kids at your house for a week, 24/7.

It sounds like such an amazing weekend! I'm glad you guys were able to spend time with family and friends, and I'm sorry about not being near your sister anymore :( Thanks for Lexi's poem to Aaron. I'm so glad she shared that with him! I still need to listen to/see Wicked. I've heard such good things about it.

It was such a great show wasn't it! I was telling Matthew that if we get a chance, we are definitely seeing it again! I was so, so, so happy to see you there. I hoped we'd run into each other and even said a little prayer I'd see you...I was thrilled when I looked up and there you were!!
It made my day :)

Hi Trisha! I love that you're always doing things with your family. What a fun sister to do that for you, and you're great to have her kids for a week. I bet you're really going to miss her. How long is she going to be gone?
