My baby is two!!!!

This past Sunday was Brendon's 2nd birthday. I can't believe our baby is already two!!!!

The day started out with Lexi sick and throwing up through the night. The girls were still very excited for Brendon's birthday, even though Lexi wasn't feeling so well. They made him little gifts and cards. Josh stayed home from church with Lexi and I dealt with a little guy who had not had a nap at all and that was so fun (said with a smile on my face - can you get my hint of sarcasm??)

He fell asleep on the way home from church, which ends at 4pm and by the time we got home it was about 4:40. We thought we would have to celebrate on Monday, but he finally woke up.

But that wasn't any better...This is what we were working with once the nap was over!!!

And this.... And more of this.... Finally we got him to calm down, he had a quick bite to eat and then wanted the cake - instead of gifts. Who was I to argue with a very cranky birthday boy. He liked that and kept trying to blow out the candles. Daddy had to help him.

Please don't look at this cake. I am so embarrassed. I only put it on here to document his focus on the candles - that was truly priceless. I have multiple friends who are posting pictures of these fabulous cakes they are doing through their classes and this is what my son gets. We just are not cake eaters (except him) and I couldn't bring myself to pay $18 or more for something we wouldn't eat and that was girly (the only options were covered in flowers or orange and pink frosting if it didn't have the flowers). I can at least write on the cake, however, rather than taking the time to make something I grabbed pre-made writing frosting and the tips I have didn't fit the tube. I wasn't about to deal with that when the boy was screaming for the cake. So...I just squeezed it out into something and called it good. Oh, well. Good enough.
The boy then decided he wanted to pick up his entire piece of cake with his hands. I helped him put it down and cut it up and he did not like that. So, remember the pictures above - yep you guessed it, more of that. I didn't even bother picking up the camera again while he opened his presents because we weren't sure which way he would go with the "help" he was getting from his "other mothers" - aka his sisters.
He made out with so many cars we couldn't count, tons of action figures, a fireman hat, and many balls - This little guy was finally happy and in heaven. All of the toys are still "mine" so no one is allowed to play with him, even several days later.
Happy birthday little guy. We love your terrific two stage that you are in!!!

The cake is great! At least you had one. Seth had strawberry pie for his birthday. It was much better than cake. It funny how we get more and more realistic about parties the more kids we have. They really don't start remembering until their fourth birthday anyway.

Your kids are so cute, Trish! I remember when we were in the ward and in YW together I had Paige right before you had your 2nd! Time flies!

Happy Birthday Brendon! I can't believe he's already two. Emma will be two at the end of June. It goes by so fast. Personally, I think you're cake is great. What does Brendon care what it looks like, cake is cake and tastes great to him no matter what! I can't decorate cakes either. I will be buying Emma's :)

ahhhh...I know all too well what you just experienced. So sorry it had to be on his birthday! It is very hard to believe our babies are two. Time flies when you are having fun!

Being two is a very hard job for everyone involved. You do better than me with cake, we don't even write anything on it! It doesn't last that long anyways.

Those pictures are so funny ;) Two is always hard, and then having afternoon church doesn't help anyone. Hope you are well
