Ok, so I know I already posted today and I already recently posted about Brendon, but I just couldn't resist sharing with you Brendon's rantings for today.
I told the kids to get in the car to head out for our adventure today. I walked out to find Brendon sitting behind the driver's seat playing with the steering wheel. I had keys in hand so I wasn't worried. I started the car to get the air circulating and realized I needed to go back inside. So I quickly got Brendon's buckle done up. As I was doing this he was asking me why I needed to do it up so quickly. I said, "Because I don't trust you." He repeats it, "You don't trust me?" My response, "No, Brendon, I do not - you were playing in the driver's seat and now the car is going and I don't trust you." He gets this look of concern on his face, puts a hand to my shoulder and says so innocently, "But, Mommy, you are my friend." I busted up.
It has been storming here (sweat relief to the heat). It has been thundering and lightening. Brendon came running, "Mommy, Mommy, I hear funder. I see it. It was in the sky. Now I don't see it. It must have gone home."
As more lightening is happening I ask him if he sees any nightmare (that is what he has called lightening in the past). He says - "No Mommy. I see light-en-ing (the syllables very separated). You know like Lightening McQueen and Bolt." Wow - I wouldn't have thought of Bolt.
I just love that boy. One moment he can be sweet and innocent and the next minute I think the very jaws of hell will open and swallow him whole. Today was much sweetness and I wouldn't have changed it for anything!!!!!
